For what it's worth:

Scroll and you'll see BBS CS-5s in silver and black on a VW
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/390334-Which-rims-you-like-the-most-for-a-black-pearl-A5

Some silver CS-5s on a dark grey Golf
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/wheels-18x8-p-134671.html

I see what you mean re the black almost disappearing into nothing - doesn't look that well.

Looking at the all silver though they don't look to special - I thought the anthracite two-tone might be a good compromise??

First Choice
Silver BBS CK Alloys

Second Choice
Anthracite BBS CS-5 Alloys

Both very nice but I'd have the CS-5s first closely followed by the CKs

Hopefully the CKs won't become too common and most of you will go off and buy CS-5s and live happily ever after.

One thing I will say for the CKs though is that they look better in the flesh as they are a '3D wheel' which don't photograph as well as they look in the metal.
The 'fussy' design is their muscular organic style which looks amazing in the sunlight when they've just been cleaned. I was never the biggest fan of the design until I saw a set in the flesh and was blown away by them.
I had a wheel very similar to the CHs on my GTI (in fact the first wheels I put on it after taking delivery) and they looked a bit too small on the mk6 for some reason. I think it's because the mk6 needs a wheel where the spokes come right up to the edge of the rim. The CH looks perfect on the mk5, less so on the mk6. For motorsport use it's an entirely different matter.
The CS-5s spokes come right to the edge of the wheel, maybe that wheel will become to the mk6 what the CH did to the mk5. Perfect harmony.
Either way, if it's BBS it's okay by me. BBS+GTI= Happy Marriage

Amanda:

£900, ET45, BBS CS-5 Silver. (Includes £60 for machining rims from ET40 to ET45 by BBS).

From Preformance Alloys.

Mention me and speak to Rory.

Due to the width and ET I would expect those wheels to poke out by about 12mm on the fronts. On the rears they will fill wheel arches up very nicley.

Is it just me, or is the thought of machining 5mm off a mounting hub sitting slightly oddly with anyone else?
Is there enough metal to allow it?
Personally, I wouldn't run machined wheels...I'd just buy the wheels that fit properly first time, and know you haven't messed with the manufacturers design.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

I was told it is a 2 week wait from BBS to get wheels 'machined' by THEM for the change in ET.
Anyway, that's for mid Sept before the wheels are delivered. I'll certainly consider what you have alerted me to.

I asked the question regarding who did the machining and was advised it wasnt BBS but their importers.  Either way the warranty is not impacted.

You were incorrectly informed. It's the place where you are buying your alloy's from that will send them out to get them machined.
Also the max that can get machined is 5mm.

All i bit ANAL if you ask me but there again you like a bit of bum(so i've heard!)

Have a nice evening!
