Sorry to rain on everyones parade but drilling out the wheel bolt holes, even up to about 3mm wont make a blind bit of difference, providing you didnt subject the alloy to any extreme heat when drilling then there shouldnt be a problem at all.
You can actually buy alloys with no holes in em at all that you just drill out yourself

Indeed, as long as you used a pillar drill sort of arrangement or had them on a lathe to ensure they drilled perfectly straight and true it shouldnt really be an issue.

Indeed but there was no mention of that was there? Just that he'd done it with his black and decker at home. Which isn't the safest way of doing it let's be honest. Fair enough if you have the equipment and know what you are doing but it's not really something you want to do on trial and error basis.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

By and large a drill bit will normally run true through an already present hole (even with a handheld B+D), so I don't hold the same fears as everyone else and trust if the guy messed up he would know it and ditch the wheels, the only reason I would feel funny about doing it is devaluing the wheels.

That said I would still like to see pics.

Haha I like how you pointed that out! I've been looking around for months for alloys and I really want these on the car, thinking about it I should've got some adaptors made up which take merc m12 bolts. But the cheapest way is the beat way ;)

ive drilled wheels in the past and had no troubles, and will do if i have to in the future, there is absolutely no problem in doin this and yet again people have jumped on the bandwagon of saying its dangerous. its not, the cup of the recess still aligns the bolt, there is no difference made to the weight spread as hes using the right size bolts, it wont affect the pcd as thats set by the adaptor, the centering is done by the hub/spigot ring.

however i would have used a bench drill

If I had access to a bench drill old of believe me, bolts came today so pics of the alloys and the alloys on the car will be posted up!

just for reference, not all merc bolts are m12, quite a few are m14
