Haha, just got carried away...  :embarassed:

If I had a hatchback and £300 that'd be what I'd do after stripping as much out as possible.

I may be wrong but £300 might see you a fast road cam or a new exhaust system, that should see you some gains.

Or possibly a diff if you're lucky... or some 888s?

All those things would be better money for value than a map on an NA.

You can pick up fast road cams for about £200, and a decent 2nd hand exhaust for £100, so yeah you'd be looking at much better gains in terms of value for money (it's all relative though!) :afro:

Hmmm I don't think I'd bother with any of that, I always just thought remapping is an easy way (cos someone else does it for you ) of getting a few more bhp/torque/mpg and without putting any of the components under too much strain. I knew there wouldn't be much to gain from a non-turbo remap but apparently you can get 178 bhp and 154 lb/ft out of a remap of the abf engine... (128bhp and 129lb/ft for the 8v) Though strangely enough the 115 bhp 2.0 8v found in the cabrio started off with 125lb/ft instead of 120 and you can get more torque out of a remap  :undecided: http://vwremap.co.uk/

Anyway... I'm not too concerned with spending money on whatever car I end up with before I'm back at work.... except for the right wheels.... and a golf ball gear knob....... and white dials...

Complete and utter bullsh!t! A remap on a ABF will see 155bhp on a very good day!

Really?! Five poxy little brake horsepower? It's staying completely standard then!

Len has had his abf remapped by r-tech, and this is the result from the latest RR day:

In comparison to a standard ABF in a MK2:

Note the straighter power curve of Len's and much better torque curve, that's all the remap can do rather than release extra peak power which simply isn't there

Which is why I suggested some useful mods for around the same price...
