Tdi Tuning.....

Hi peeps, im gonna start the tuning on my mk3 tdi finally. Just wanna clarify a few thing first.....

What boost does the stock setup make? I've fitted the guage, but i cant find a t piece to plumb it into the car yet. Do i Plug the guage into the boost pipe feed comin from the inlet elbow up to the ECU?

Also, i've fitted a tuning box, i've had it for ages but never fitted it as i wasnt sure if it was any good,however its fitted now, and it has made it better for sure.

I have set the adjusment screw on the box at what i think is a safe level, when under full load there is a light haze of smoke, but nothing black, and it goes really well. Also, i can always hear the wastegate opening after about 2k of revs, so is it worth fitting a Manual boost controller so i can hold the boost on a bit?

What is a safe level for boost? I've heard about 18 i safest high boost for the turbo and the engine internals? if this is the case, i'll stick at around 15 so im well below?

Be carefull with turning the boost up on a manual controller, it could end in tears.

i know matey, i've done alot of diesel tuning in the past, know what im doing, but just wanna know a bit more about the mk3 setup, as im used to the earlier mk2 GTD setups and the like.

I have just stumbled across the TDI forum though, and found nearly everythin i need on there, so this thread is kinda useless now, lol....

I believe TDI110 injectors are an upgrade that is worth doing.

The turbo is the limit for boost really

yup, the .205's are the 110 jobbies, or even the 150bhp T4's .216's :-)

.216 it! i did loads of looking into tuning one these engines and well 2k can get one of these to 250bhp on standard internals

So ya just pop these in and remap and instant bhp gain ??

pop them in and a chip will go from 90 bhp to about 110bhp-120 (if your lucky) dont need a remap.
but youl make alot of smoke.. to get rid of that just change the turbo
