If you spent that much on the car already mate your best going www.rustmaster.co.uk its about £3-400 they totally underseal the car and cavity wax etc every single nook and cranny and comes with a 5 year warranty..
[make shore you clean all the sealer off the back were the sealer is on the (a) post that way you can ajust the wing in and out to fit up to the door .

Thanks again for all the input and help! Towed the car home on Thursday, just got to the bodyshop as they were closing for the long weekend. Been too busy in work to get much done yet, put the rear lights back in and started on the door window seals. I spent ages cleaning all the seals before I started to fit them so hopefully they'll be ok. Not looking forward to refitting the windscreen but I'm sure I'll be chuffed once it's done! Just need to get some adhesive to help the plastic arches stay on and I think I've got everything else that I need. The plan is to try and get the car done for All Types, watch this space!!!

aaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Spent a few hours on the car today, didn't feel like i got much done but such is the way of things!  Really struggled to get the rear side window back in. Tried using some nylon rope in the groove, the seal was moving over the metal lip but was almost coming off the glass and twisting a bit. Didn't continue as I didn't want to screw the seal. Anyone got any tips?

String the glass up again, with the start/finish point for the string in the middle of the longest section of the seal, ie the bottom edge. get someone to put moderate pressure on the outside of the glass, both hands, with spread fingers.. to evenly distribute even pressure over the seal against the window aperture... with this pressure maintained, pull one part of the string till it reaches the first corner, then stop, and slap the glass with a flat hand in the area that has just been pulled, this will seat the rubber... then continue with the other end of the string in the opposite direction, till you reach the adjacent corner, once again, seat the seal by slapping the glass... even pressure should be maintained at all times, continue in sections till all the way round. Once the pulling in has been completed, it will probably necessary to seat all of the window once again, just by slapping the glass, check for uniform fit on the inside of the glass, and may need a little fiddling where the rubber seal fits over the inner rear 1/4 trim... use a blunt wide blade screwdriver for this.
When pulling the string out, don't pull it towards you! this could tear the rubber seal... Instead, wrap the string round your hand and with you knuckles touching the glass, pull the string like you're pulling it to the adjacent side of the seal..

Easy really...

thanks for the info, will try again soon!!! Sort of did it the way you said but without the slapping and I was pulling the string out at 90 degrees not in the way you said!

Also, if you've cleaned the seal, you may have cleaned off the powdered lube  causing the rubber to grip too much against the aperture, just give the seal a shot of Mr Sheene to help it on its way...
