Ive read loads of cases of the mk6 ones not folding out, the same as the mk5 ones.
Yes I've read complaints about these folding mirrors it appears there is a delay built in.

Folding mirrors anomaly.

Ive read loads of cases of the mk6 ones not folding out, the same as the mk5 ones. It seems as common as the mk5s. probably the same software

I'm not sure mine is software related as I've seen me turning the knob and nothing has happened for several minutes.
Driving off though seems to work after several seconds. I've just put that down to the vibrations knocking the switch into action.
Although now I think about it, if it was a faulty switch then surely the mirrors wouldn't fold in 10 times out of 10?!

Did you end up getting the A1? What's it like? Lot of dosh for a small car.
I don't think it is a lot of dosh, compared to fiesta, polo, Ibiza, Mito, and other small cars excluding hyundai/kia with similar specs its no more expensive but the dash materials are a step up.

To be honest I've no idea what A1s cost, where as you do! I just thought they'd be expensive owing to the fact they are Audis.....oh and I remember seeing one on t'other forum where it was about £22k. You could get a new Golf GTI from Motorpoint for £22k!!!
I've still yet to see an A1 in the flesh. I don't get out much!

If a delay is built in you would expect it to "delay" every time yet that isn't the case. Also doesn't explain the delay for several minutes?!

Mine sticks about 1 in 50 times.  Normally driving away fixes it... but it wouldn't be much use if you were trying to pull away from a kerb on a main road when it was stuck shut!
As above - it always shuts properly though.

I wish there was a way of coding them to close when you hold the lock button / press it twice or something.

Do the mirrors on the MK6 not fold with the keyfob??
My 2 Leon FR's did by holding the lock button, but the Ibiza Cupra I had was the same as your Golf's it seems :(
Tbh, both sides of VW skimp on things, the older Cupra has Bi-Xenons as standard, folding heated mirrors etc and was cheaper then the GTI with more power, but the newer Seat's don't even get LED DRL's, even Skoda's have them now!
I specced up the A1 for my mum, came to £23k......she bought the GTI :D
