With the help of forum members, bumper removed

Big problems followed, spent hours and still no joy. How on earth do you un-clip the lower grill surround?

Have tried force leverage and even removal of fogs and surround (which by the way also don't budge

Any pics/diagrams of this area on a GTI. Something's gotta a give soon : What's the knack? Thanks all.

Well I cracked it (not literally)thank heavens!

Basically you have the remove everything lights and holder frames inside.

The ext. light surrounds connected to the grill surround and grill, so comes of in one. Once you released (prized) ALL the clips open!

Then remove grill and end light surrounds and you should be left with the metallic grey surround?

Which is already primed ready for gloss.

Not a lunch break job chaps.

Hope I like the end result now?

Forgive me, as I seem to be a bit late to this party. But why did you go through this torturous process?  :undecided:

I like it. I think it's a nice change. Certainly makes the car a bit more distinct.

Whoopsie Daisy! Just realised what you have done, so I neither approve nor disapprove.

But I'll leave mine as it is from the factory.

Looking at it more critically, it makes the car look narrower and taller, which I don't like.

I quite like it, I've seen a few on the Yank forums done this way and it looks good.
How about some pics of the car from a bit further away to really show off the change.

Are your front lights tinted BTW?
