VR6 mounts are stiffer to accommodate the extra weight i believe.

I was told they are however someone else told me they are all the same.

Go for the Febi ones on ebay and fit new rears as well.

If it's wobbly all round the rear then I'd say axle bushes but if it's wobbly on one side then I'd say it's top mounts.

Worth doing them anyway, car always feels a bit tighter

Have a look underneath at the axle bushes. Does the rubber look dry and perished/cracked? Can you peel bits of rubber off it?

If so I'd say bushes are shot too.

aye vr top mounts are the same as standard gti mk3 ones. the 'vr wunz r betah' myth came from the corrado vr6 i recon, since they got the mk3 gti top mounts whereas the 4 pot models had the mk2 g60 top mounts.

I'm wondering if the circlip on one of the shocks or the upper spring plate has gone, alowing the shock to go up inside the car. open the boot and check the shock top cups both sides

No sign of any hydraulic leaks on the shocks?
