Well these metal bits in your fuel tank seem a nicely novel take. Whatever next? They seem to be fixing your car piecemeal. How frustrating for you.

Strange isn't it? you'd think "head office" would be querying the cost of parts/labour and would step in.

Just got back from the garage, they replaced high pressure lift pump and complete fuel tank.
Seems ok but smells a bit of petrol in the cabin, hopefully just fumes from when they did the tank.
Definitely gonna go for some kind of extended warranty after the 3 years - this kind of repair must be hefty cost!

i had a problem with my Lexus @ 60 MPh. Only problem was the Island I lived on the max speed limit was 35 MPH. Dealer wouldnt fix it because they wouldnt drive at such an unsafe speed.  Then I got here and roads that would be 15 there its 60 here.

Masher: Was wondering how your car was running? Give it a good thrashing to see if the repairs hold. I hope you have no further problems.

I spoke to VW yesterday regarding the work done on my car and it appears it has also has the coil packs replaced... in addition to the spark plugs that were replaced earlier.

These are all linked to the cat and emissions etc (yellow light on dash) so there does appear to be a weak link there somewhere!!

Not really as it all goes back to VWde for the first two years. If it was the 3rd year they would be looking at any getout they could.
