Blown up
« on: 17 February 2011, 19:05 »
used kick down in sport mode on motorway today and very briefly went to xxxMPH, dash lit up like a disco, display said "engine fault, workshop!" no power - felt like not many cylinders firing and smoking like fidel castro.
managed to limp to dealer and conked out on their car park entrance.
Didn't get a chance to look under the bonnet for an oil explosion but wondering what it is?
Hoping warranty sorts it.

Nope, no remap - bit worried though that stealer will quote speed on ECU log and use it as some kind of excuse to avoid warranty fix. Does it log everything?

surely speed wont be an issue for dealer as you were driving on private land within the spec of the engine ?

Good luck - hopefully it'll be back on the road quickly.

Have they given you a courtesy car?

Sounds like turbo failure. They're designed to hack 100mph+ on the autobahn all day long so despite the fact these speeds may not be legal in this country should have no effect on them replacing under warranty.
