No courtesy car but to be fair to them it was a bit last minute. They said as i broke down before getting to the garage (50yds!) it's classsed as a breakdown so they will speak to VW today re hire car.

Got courtesy car sorted for tomorrow, apparently log showed coil fault which they replaced but still misfiring and chucking out oil smoke.
I've had coil faults on other cars but don't remember such a dramatic cloud of smoke........
will ask for an update tomorrow.
