« on: 15 February 2011, 15:30 »
Anybody have any tips on how to remove them? I have the axle off my mk2 golf and wanted to replace them but how do you get them out?
Cheers

All this drilling nonsense is wrong - get a blowtorch out and set light to the damned things - much less effort and in a very short time the old rubber and inside metal sleeves will just push out.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Only if you set light to the car above the beam.

Do it with some old carpet or similar below and it's fine - the molten old bush normally just drips out.

Depending on how pikey you're feeling the shell can often be beaten out in a line, which will tear as you chisel down through it, avoiding any damage to the beam.

Top Tip.

Might give that bash when the time comes. Who doesn't like playing playing fire!?

I drilled a couple of 10mm holes through mine, then used a hammer and drift and just battered it. As soon as you've broken the rust seal and its moved a mm, it will move easier with every thud thereafter...  Just get tough with it...
