cleaning windscreen
« on: 11 February 2011, 10:12 »
how do you clean yours?

bearing in mind that mk6 windscreens are different from everyone elses windscreens obviously...

half a spud and wipe with news paper

You go in the detailing section and it's like a willy waving comp of who's got the best and most expensive gear to do a basically very simple job. We live in the UK not California. It's cold most of the year and wet all of the year, and the light is crap. What's the point in having 2 millions quid's worth of cleaning gear when 5 mins later your car is covered in road debris and seagull sh!te?!!!

Exactamente.

Why haven't the mods sent this to the detailing section? They're normally so particular!

It's a Mk6 windscreen. So it's in the right place.

please stay on topic and provide useful and helpful replies on how you keep your windscreen clean, cost effectively...

On the passat you need to use special cleaner as vw fitted special glass to the top of the range model's  :lipsrsealed:

Ok I use autoglym glass polish and it works perfectly

I wondered where this ended up.

You'd be proud of the restraint I employed in not replying to the OP with some handy tips.

Does cleaning the glass with said products really make a difference chaps?

I just clean mine with my usual car shampoo and then wipers + spray when it gets dirty on the motorway. Seems to work fine for me . . .  :undecided:

Try some and see for yourself

Car shampoo tends to leave an oily film / residue.  Using stuff like Autoglym will leave it streak free and looking like glass
