Autoglym Glass Cleaner its like polish and dries.  So doesnt smear on removal, although can leave dust like polish.

It's a Mk6 windscreen. So it's in the right place.

half a spud and wipe with news paper

We live in the UK not California. It's cold most of the year and wet all of the year, and the light is crap. What's the point in having 2 millions quid's worth of cleaning gear when 5 mins later your car is covered in road debris and seagull sh!te?!!!

All the more reason to use the best cleaning products IMO.  :smug:

To be honest you can use lots of products to clean the windscreen and most will do a pretty good job

I use gtechniq's G4 compound which is very good at removing stubborn marks but they key with any clenaer is getting the residue off the screen.

Use a couple of micro-fibre cloths and then finish with one of those e-cloths to remove final amounts of residue - it's the job I hate most but there is nothing worse than the low winter sun shining through the windscreen and causing a blind spot due to the residue/dirt on the inside

When you've done the above use these to finish -

Does anyone still have the suction cup marks (from the production line) and managed to clear them? Okay, I only see them when the screen's a bit misted up, but they bug me!

I've still got them, but I haven't really tried to clear them.  They sort of make me think my car is still brand new....

Yeah I still have them, can only see them when the sun shines on the glass so don't really bother me too much.

That's more like it.
Carbon neutral too, you can eat the spud and wipe your arse on the newspaper afterwards!!!

You go in the detailing section and it's like a willy waving comp of who's got the best and most expensive gear to do a basically very simple job. We live in the UK not California. It's cold most of the year and wet all of the year, and the light is crap. What's the point in having 2 millions quid's worth of cleaning gear when 5 mins later your car is covered in road debris and seagull sh!te?!!!

The spud it is for me.
