Gutted - Whilst washing and polishing my 06 GTI I found I had rust around both front wheel arches.  After reading this and the other links I'm off to my VW dealer tomorrow to see what they say.  For a car that isn't quite 5 years old this is appauling...

Out of interest, does this affect all Mk5's regardless of age and model? I've yet to see any high mileage '04 plates with rampant rust, however, I may not have looked closely enough!

Yes its the design of the inner plastic wheel arch, It rubs on the inside of the wing and rubs the paint off.
