Front wheel arch corrosion

Finaly heard back about the corrosion my golf is suffering from
near-side wing:-100% good will
Tail gate corrosion 20% good will
Off-side wing, repaired in March 2011, I will have to pay for as "it was repaired as a goodwill gesture so isnt warranted"
Tops of sills- not authorised.
So all in a poor show could have been worse but could have been a whole lot better

Was the repair on the off-side wing carried out by VW??  Doesn't it come under their 2 year parts and labour guarantee?? 

By the sounds of it, there isn't much left due to the rust!! Shocking!!

Bumping an old thread to share my experience with this. 05 plate GTi, 69,500 miles, spotted the corrosion this weekend and had it in the garage (Wolverhampton) this week, usual spiel about corrosion guarantee not applying, but then after a bit of pushing it was agreed that would be carried out 100% cost as a goodwill gesture.

However, I was then told that they didn't have the facility at the dealer to check the paint thickness and submit the claim, and I would have to go to another dealer with a VW approved bodyshop. Rang all my locals (Tamworth, Burton & Derby) and they either didn't have bodyshops or were no longer VW approved. I got as far as Shrewsbury and they said they can do the work but couldn't guarantee the goodwill. It's an hour drive and an afternoon off work for me to get there just to get the info together for the claim.

Feel like just dumping the car in Wolverhampton and telling them to sort it, couldn't believe it was me doing all the ringing round trying to find someone to honour the goodwill!

what year onwards does this issue not apply?

i.e. when did VW sort it out?

I downloaded some sort of process method from VW, think it said up to 06 models.
