memory wire

brought a new sony head unit today and need to wire in the memory wire, what colour wud this be on the h.u harness and also on the vw harness? cheers

it should have a permanent live in the loom already
there is more than one fuse for the stereo on a mk4 golf so check your fuses

the red wire on the stereo harness is permenant live and yellow is ignition live, if the stereo isnt remembering stations ect ect you need to swap the red over with the yellow... there should be bullet connection on these 2 wire to do this

havnt looked yet mate due to bad weather and major hang over  :grin: ill take a look tomoz and post a follow up plus been and brought a vibe active sub so need to get that changed over with my other sub  :wink:

Almost correct...however..Yellow is considered the Permanent LIVE on the sony loom...and the RED is the switched LIVE (ignition).
All VWs with factory plugs on mk4's and below all have the wiring switched the otherway round to cater for the oem radio. so quite rightly so...you will HAVE to switch the red and yellow around on the sony harness in order match up correctly with the vw wiring.
Also, it mite b worth cutting the BLUE connected wire that also runs in line on the sony loom to the car..as that can cause complications.
