isv needs a pulsed signal, putting 12v to it wont get you anywhere.  by the sounds of it the isv wiring is missing due to it not having a proper 16v wiring loom, does it at least have the wur and 5th injector wiring on it?

the red/black wire to the spade connector needs to go behind the fusebox to a white plug for the isv control unit, there should be another 2 pin white plug for the isv wires

you could splice to that wire yes, this wire is the rev counter feed. the isv unit is just spliced into this wire. the reason its on a spade plug is you have to disconnect it when you set up the base isle

just took the above pics. the first one is what is plugged in to the coil.

the second is how ive plugged in the control box, into the loom

and the third is a plug that is not plugged in when i took the pics, is it needed or is it for optional equipment?

there we go, i can see 2 red/black wires from the coil. unwrap that black tape and you'll see the ends of the wires which should go into the white plugs you see in the 16v tuning link above. on other mk2s you just have a single red/black wire.

follow that last wire back to where it comes from, hopefully that'll give you a clue if its needed or not. find the iscv control unit, and look for a single black wire. trace that back and make sure its hooked up to a coil live feed

ok i unwrapped the tape around the wires at the coil end.

the ends have been soldered together.

i followed the wires back and they both go into the grey trunking. i dont want to cut open that.

what do i do now?

should both of the wires go into the isv plugs??

sorry i meant one runs to the isv control unit, you can see the other end of it at the white connector. basically you have 2 seperate red/black wires from the bay to the inside of the car. 1 runs from the fusebozx for the rev counter, the other runs from thwe isv control unit. both of these go to the coil -ve, rev counter feed goes direct, isv goes via a 1 pin plug so you can disconnect it in order to set  the idle.

what you need to do is find the engien bay end of the isv red/black wire and put a plug on it
