Don't know. There 149 factory say bout 170. My mates just don't it. But he's not had it on the road so doesn't know how it runs yet. Cams, exhaust, manifold, blanced cranke. P+P head all accounts to bhp aswell. I know for the 1.8 u can get a 2.1 stroker kit which apparently takes it to 170bhp. So research is the key for massive break

sounds good, and do you think i could do that on my budget?

On your budget, doing quite a lot yourself you should be able to buy the G3 16V donor, strip and sell the surplus rubbish, get the head ported and flowed at JNL Racing in Markyate, buy a set of throttlebodies, get a stub manifold made up and get it running on proper EFI with none of this 'carbs' bollox - that's a fool's errand.

You may also be able to stretch to an LSD in an 02A box.

JNL can advise on management, or you can go MS, or Emerald and get Dave Walker to map it.

If you are still insisting on boat-anchoring your Golf then for information on VR6 conversions, look out GVK Motorsport - runs probably one of the most well-developed VR6 G2s in the UK.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

my AUM on stage 1 map is pushing 221bhp and 235 ft/lb's of torque   so with a 1.8t exhaust.. air filter.. nice intercooler you would be pushing around 240-250ish..

A stripped Golf 2 is less than 900kgs - 200bhp+ in a Golf2 will be f@cking amazing.

How much did the stripped scoob weigh?

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.
