Keep the GTI - you'll regret it otherwise.

I am very impressed with my Conti Winters.
Traction is to be experienced to be believed.

I have seen loads of cars stuck or abandoned over the last few days, when I go out now my only worry is the car in front getting stuck.
They are amazing in the snow and put the GTI at least on a par with a 4WD in summer tyres.

Don't forget also the massively improved braking below 7 C.

How much are these Conti Winter rubbers?

Also, has anyone's insurance premium risen after fitting winter tyres (I know its stupid, but I heard this on the news)?

£143 a corner (17") but most places have no stock right now.

The insurance thing was a total load of tosh, just call centre people not knowing what they were talking about.

If you're in any doubt just phone the main office of your insurance company.

There have been several articles in the news recently admitting it was all a big con mistake.

They can fcuk off IMO.
I'll just say that I got 2 punctures, had my wheels stolen and my tyres slashed. Let them prove it!

Yes, you can set it to whatever you like. The only difference is it says 'Winter tyre speed XXX exceeded' on the display.

Your Contis should be rated for 140mph or so, just set the warning to whatever you feel comfortable with or just leave the standard warning on.

I've not bothered. The tyres are V rated, so not necessary

None of the fcuking business as to how I use my rubber.

They should be mightly pleased that I don't use the same rubber all the time and thus I am a safe operator.
