I'm not planning on kissing her ever again. Last time it happened about 13 years ago she ended up getting all fat again and subsequently gave birth to her youngest son. So you're okay there. In fact we're far more likely to burst into a fit of verbal assault towards one another. So a side benefit of all this is that there will only be one of us in your company at a time whilst driving and I won't have to spend too much time in her company.

As for your personal requirements, that's not a problem as my wife is quite strong and I used to be quite handy with my kids' pushchairs back in the day, despite doing wheelies and bouncing them up kerbs I think they only ever fell out once or twice.

I am even more delighted now.
We can discuss the details when the event of 'the lottery win' takes place.
I am so happy that this major worry of mine has been laid to rest.
Thank you.
Merry Christmas to you both.

Well, I'm well and truly stuck. The Polo only goes sideways for now.
I'll start digging once I'm refreshed and ready to take on the little mountain of snow in front of the little darling.
I would have no such problems if I had chauffeur.

You've got a conveniently short memory, my dear.
Remember our outrageous banter which drove most members on the forum nuts.
We even went so far as arrange a threesome with one other member: Neil gti!
Shockingly funny when I think of it.

hi dudes

luckily i've not had to abandon my machine unlike some other unlucky folk here. sorry to hear that, i hope everything will turn out ok!

not sure where to post this as it seems silly for me just to start a whole thread on this, lately i've been having problems actually getting into my car. for some reason the driver's door is susceptible to getting frozen stuck. a couple of times i've gone and i just can't pull it open. one time i crawled in on the passenger side. i was able to open the driver door from inside pushing out. tonight however i just pulled as hard as i could and couldn't get it open. even the passenger door wouldn't open. also the boot wouldn't open as i joked to myself the other night i might have to crawl in through the back, but the VW badge is just stuck with ice. being mine is a 5 door i managed to crawl in on rear drivers side door. getting into the front seat wasn't graceful. i've heard WD-40 on the seals helps? anybody else have any other suggestions?

i'm also finding if i do manage to get either the front doors open, there looks to be a lot of frozen ice buildup right at the bottom corner panel near the hinge - this is where on another thread it's been discussed about the sponge that is soaking up water in wet, but there seems to be lots of ice in there and opening the door and can hear and feel the ice cracking against the panel *cringe* i'm not opening the door all  the way but just enough for me to get in but i worry that i'm going back to bent panels sob.

and a bit of light reading relating to the original post, and not that i want to worry ppl, but have you heard of this?

If you look along the top edge of the door were the window is you will see the rubber actually has a fur covering this fills with water and freezes to the metal. Some have stuck tape on this fur so that the tape gives before the fur and allows you to open the door.

Im told this is why the sponge is there as it was bending the bottom of panels on the mk5. as the ice had nowere to crush into and so ght out the bottom of the door i remember a few years ago seeing the photos of mk5s were this had happened. Im told in bad weather countries the mk5 also had that hole were the sponge is on the mk6 to stop the bottom of the door bending in this location.

I have kind of abandoned my but at least it's on the driveway at home

Given how bad my road was I was surprised how good the A3 was on the proper winter tyres: -

I feel bad for trading it in now
