This is what happened to my old PS3 a couple of weeks ago, if you switch the system off from the switch on the back and leave it a minute or two then turn it back on it should boot up again but it wont last long.

If it beeps 3 times and just shuts down straight away and stays with the red light flashing it means it is overheating so I read online. After mine did it for the first time it lasted a week before it did it again and then it started getting more frequent until finally I got the yellow light.

It's happened to a few of my mates in exactly the same way unfortunately. Start saving

right for anyone else who is interested... i found a possible fix to this common problem with the ps3.

Involves ripping it to bits and using a heat gun on a few bits... which apparently solves the problem. I will be giving this a go later this week so will report back. I also spoke to a friend who had the same thing happen and he fixed his with no reoccuring issues.

fingers crosses... im pretty poor at stuff like this so if i can, anyone can!!

Yeah, the repairs don't last long unfortunately, best bet is to buy a ps3 that needs a new disc drive and swap the disc drive over.

Either that or send off your PS3 to somewhere that give a 6month warranty on the repair

This happened to me last nite, bought a new one today, so stripped the ps3 down to get mw2 back out of the disc drive, pretty easy done so im gonna get a heat gun and try the repair. If u do repair it, take it down to game or something and trade it in while the repair still works... as long as its working at the time they will take it off your hands. its their problem after that.
