starting issues after storage
« on: 10 November 2010, 12:39 »
right...

mk1 rivage J plate

been off the road 11 months
battery went flat for a short while and has been on conditioner ever since (so battery could be an issue)
reconnected battery... seems to have plenty of juice
get alarm (clifford concept) out of valet mode and into 'normal' mode
oil and water - check
fuel - very minimal (but we're not even getting that far)
ignition comes on when key inserted
go to start engine
there is a feint 'click' and then everything, including all electrics, alarm etc goes dead
this is including when connected to another battery for jump start

thoughts?

Got anyidea where the click is coming from?

Tried hitting the starter with a hammer to see if it's stuck?

Have yo managed to get it to Chuff's or are you needing to fire it up to get on the truck?

wont need to start it to get it onto the truck.. hopefully... we we're just going to try and start it anyway  :lipsrsealed:

wouldn't know what to hit... but i think it could very well be the flattery

recovery driver has broken down (doesn't bode well)

The click will be the starter motor solenoid.
Are the points on the motor clean and recieving 12v?
Could also be a seized starter motor like Nick said.

No probs.
Did you check the engine turns over freely by hand before starting it?
