Today was the day, and it didnt go as well as I'd hoped :(

But first things first

Day was started by going to a tool shop and getting the right tool for the clutch bolts

guy in the shop said it was a really weird size, m7 and the head is something like 11/32? cant see myself ever using that socket again

so got back the the garage and cracked on

Action shots!

Heres how the bay looked b4 it was dropped in, wiring all nicely tucked away. Could do with a clean though, but no time for that!

Dad posing

More action shots!

And now the bad news. Front engine bracket is wrong :( the engine sits too high at the front and looks like its tilting backwards, its also really tight with the bonnet

You can just see in this pic where the bracket doesn't sit fluch on the mount. The bolts just in to hold the engine in place while we moved it back round the side of the house.

I've had enough of pissing about with ebay and scrappies for one week so just ordered the bracket from VW. £50 or there abouts but at least I know the right part is on its way. Wont be there till monday so in that time I'm gonna get everythign else done and at least get it running so all we need to do on monday is change the bracket and its all finished :)

Time is becoming an issue now, need this finished by Thursday or I'm walking to work! Fairly confident I'll have it driveable sometime tomorrow, though I've decided to bypass the intercooler for now untill I order some proper pipe and hose instead of arsing around with this universal kit which is clearly inadequate!

Anyway on with the update

Forgot to get a before pic, but heres the new bracket fitted with the old one held up against it

More new bits! MAF, MAP sensor and a pipe to mount it in from Forge. All together the sensors and bracket put me back £270 from VW, but as said before I dont care anymore just need it finished

Apollo cold air intake kit from Venom, £140 delivered

Heres how the pedals look atm

Intercooler fitted

May need to trim these a bit :P

And heres how the bay looks b4 I finished today

Need to tidy this lot up at some point but for now as I said just need it running, gonna route the tip the other way like it is standard and just hook it up to the throttle body

I'll most probably order a load of pipe and hose from silicone hoses in the next couple of days, back to work Thursday and then off to spain on the 25th so wont have much time to do anything about it untill I get back

lol yeah we took over the kitchen for the week :P No its my Dads garage dunno what the idea is with the tiled floor and kitchen cupbords though

that 'no oil' is actually painted on, dunno what the idea behind that is either but gonna be fun getting it off

Intercooler is just a £50 job from ebay, its a universal one from Toyosports

Thanks for the comments :)

bodged up my turbo intake pipe with some silicon sealant just untill I do it properly, hope it holds :P

Managed to reoute the piping for throttle body to turbo intake, took ages! dont wanna think how long its gonna take to rig it all up properly to the intercooler!

Deffinatly need to do something with this lot as well, intake has crap all around it and will no doubt perform badly, and it also looks a total mess!

Thats all for today, tomorrow I just need to tidy up and hook up the alternator and starter, then I think the engine is done for now. After that I need to link up the downpipe to the rest of the system and put in the throttle pedal and finish that up. Hoping to be up and running by lunchtime but even I dont believe myself when I say that
