Unable to open N/S rear door

I've run out of ideas and hoped someone can help

N/S rear door won't unlock/open either from inside or outside. All other doors are fine.
It appears to be a mechanical problem as I have even tried disconnecting the battery.

I have now managed to remove the inner door card (not easy with the door shut.......took pics so can produce a guide, without breaking clips ) and the plate so that I can get at the back of the module but I'm not sure that has helped.

I can't see what needs to be operated or moved to open the door.

I'll upload some pics that show where I am now..............

Only thing I can think now is to look for another cheap one off ebay and when I get it tinker with it to see what can be mechanically operated to open the door.

Desperate for ideas if anyone can help.

Anyone? Driving around now with everything removed (as it shows in the picture) with a block of wood holding the window up

I would try destroying the lock module, if I can as it is, but I'm not even sure if that will help

just ask a chav i am sure he will know how to open it for u 

just pop into vw i am sure one of the tech guys will say how to open it with out damaging the door.  It is prob full of grease try blasting aload of wd40 and leave it over night.

Hmmm, good idea with the WD40, I'll try that............could get lucky.

there is a small brass lever on the inside face which needs to be flicked up to unlock, then assuming the childlocks are on you need to get at the outside face of it to operate the exterior handle lever. I have an old broken one at the workshop but won't be able to get pictures until tomorrow

I found some pictures yesterday..........I'll upload them.

Child locks aren't on but something is stopping the mechanism from unlocking. Operating the inside handle you can force the pop up knob upwards but it is only because I am fighting the mechanism. The module is not unlocking and the knob drops back down as soon as you release the handle..........very odd

I reckon that white plastic piece is bulking it and preventing it from unlocking but there is no way to get at it in situ

in the first picture, the lever on the left (the one with the white plastic attached which usually has the locking pin connected) needs to rotate clockwise to unlock
