I'll have another try when Hazel gets back with the car...........I reckon I need to try and find a way to let the right hand lever rotate past the white plastic lever/bulk. I may be able to get at the metal part and bend it to clear the plastic, not sure without looking.

Thanks for the input.........I'll let you know how I get on.

Had exactly same problem pal. Had to remove doorcard from inside which is "fun".

I then used a pry bar upagainst the lock mechanism and whacked it with a hammer on the lever to open it.

I also had it on another car which i simply banged the door from the outside with my hand and that opened.

Either way........

Well, I can't get at the part of the mechanism that you're on about Chris  It's right against the door skin.

I've tried the banging on the door technique whilst unlocking.......no joy there.

Out with the pry bar

Still won't budge

Just looked at the manual and its not an MOT failure. The front doors must open from inside and out, the rear ones must latch closed............it does that all right
I think we're going to live with it and I'll put it back together...........damned inconvenient

I'll leave it all apart for now in case someone comes up with a magic solution

Chris, if you do get a chance to look at yours can you let me know if you think there is anything that might be preventing it from manually unlocking. It looks like there is a motor as well as the microswitches in the module so I'm wondering if the motor hasn't reached a full position and the microswitch isn't talking to the convenience unit :undecided: That in turn may be preventing the mechanical side from operating :undecided:

Going to dig out the wiring diagrams and peruse them in the meantime.

Yeah......could be worse I guess. At least the kids can still pile in from the N/S passenger door

if you go into measuring blocks under the CCM in vagcom you can see what state the 4 microswitches are in, but it seems more like mechanical failure to me.

I think you're right...........clutching at straws really.

Not exactly sure what that motor does but its pins 1 & 2 on the connector so I'm tempted to try putting 12V through the pins and see if anything moves.......can't really make anything worse as long as the convenience unit is disconnected.

I could try VAGCOM tomorrow.........if only out of curiosity. Lock all the doors and compare the readings. I might be lucky and it'll be microswitch 4 which is on the mechanical side and easy to get at the wiring :undecided:

no4 only tells the ccm that the door is open or closed, it's the one that most often fails but it shouldn't jam the door shut. Doesn't hurt to have a play though!
