Car Audio Problems

Hey.

I have a JVC KD-R411 and wanted to use the USB slot to connect an external hard drive to it, but I really don't know how.
Normal connection it reads (cannot play), and I have tried formatting the HDD to FAT32 which apparently Radio's like more, but the drive is too big for that format (its 640) and NTFS doesnt work either. I dont even know what USB speed my Radio has. >.<

Anyone else had this problem at all?

Also, I am trying to fit door speakers to my pre90 mk2. Anyone know of any good fitters around the Yeovil area? Liquid Ice have disappeared/moved.

No mention of attaching anything other than usb memory sticks. The issue may well be that it does not provide enough power to run an external hard drive over the connection.

Go for the Ipod Classic, unless you have more then 160GB!!!!!

I have more, I recently bought a 640 to hold all my music (sitting at 260 and counting) and I absolutely hate Ipod/Itunes/Apple with a passion.

It worked, I partitioned the drive (320 FAT32 /320 NTFS) and it can now locate the smaller drive.

Now I just need a place to wire my speakers up properly, masking tape makes it all static!

I learnt from my mistakes.

Make sure you solder the connections on your door speakers, feed the wires to the boot, on to the amp, and again, use spade connectors ... these little things make all the difference. I get no distortion and can put my volume to MAX.

I havent got an amp, just running the door speakers into the head unit, but not sure how to connect them to the original loom.

Im guessing its not a simple ISO plug then? your going to have to look at the speaker wires on the speakers, or run new ones to behind the dash and feed it to the ISO plugs, once again with crimps. You'll have to figure out which wire is plus and negative, have a closer inspection on the wire it might even hint which is positive and neg. To be honest though, if you need to go through the hassle of feeding wires to the dash, just feed em all to your boot and get a cheap small amp for £20-£30 the sound will be hundreds times better!

Edit: once you hear amped door speakers/components you'll never go back! its an essential for any car I buy in the future ... a small 10" sub, with amped door speakers.
