trim: what are these and where do I get them?
« on: 02 August 2010, 19:24 »
Hiya

As topic - sticky fabric'y things that go behind the mid-level door trim on the GTI

Ordered trim fixings from VW today, but didn't see these.

??

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

looks like a velcro attatchment that somebody has stuck on there, maybe totake place of a broken clip.

Agreed....certainly not something VW would put on the car.

disagree - they cover up a hole (manufactured like that) in the panel and presumably are there for water proofing.  I will ask VW when I collect othe fittings.

Cheers,

James

If your guy from VW sells you any of these at stealer rates then trust me you WILL have been conned. I have removed the trim before (as has Wayne) and these are not fitted as standard. The little clips are the only standard fixings on trim.

Had my trim off and never seen anything like that. Just the holes for the plugs to go in

interesting....

Any suggestions where to get them from?  One has come off, so needs to be replaced to keep it water tight.

  Trim was removed for clay, polish and wax.  Also a previous owner has had it re-sprayed.
