Danny saw 40MPG out of the ABF in his Syncro on the way back from the 'ring in 2008.

On part throttle loads it's a very clean running, frugal engine...... it just needs a drink when you nail it, which is only fair!

In fairness I'm getting better mileage from this than I did with my GL which is meant to be better.

Not hard considering your GL had a fooked engine

That is true, however even before the engine was officially fooked the 16v is better than the GL was.

When I drove it back from Birmingham I managed to get the mpg up to 38.6, it was only on the day after I realised that was the second setting, so that was overall. I'd like to have known what I got it to on the first setting given the circumstances.

You did indeed. I chose not to as it's a 16V and I'd rather pay less insurance. Plus I REALLY wanted an anni.

That's weird because the 8v was only £40 cheaper for me, and an Anni was actually more expensive than both (due to it's higher desirability I assume).

Valver was about £300 more for me! God I hate insurance!
