MKV GTi LED's
« on: 25 May 2010, 14:33 »
Hi, I bought my GTi a few weeks ago.  So far all I have done is upgrade the interior lights all to LED along with the number plate.  Very simple if you're wondering.  Just gotta wait for it to get dark to see how they look!  Never been a member of anything like this but i seem to keep reading stuff on here so thought I might as well join.

I'm interested in the OEM LED rear lights advertised on

http://cgi.ebay.de/Orig-VW-Golf-V-LED-Heckleuchten-Ruckleuchten-kirschrot-/380227807619?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Autoteile_Zubeh%C3%B6r&hash=item588757e983

Has anybody bought these or got them for sale in the UK?  Are the lenses easy to swap for the reverse and fog lights?  Are any different leads needed and does anything else need to be done to make them work?

I am also considering these:

Again, anyone got these?

Did you get some interior LEDs that don't bring up a fault code? If so, where did you get them from?

Loads of people have gone for these. Personally not a fan but as RR says, ETTO.

Incidentally, RR has a set on his car too.

And I used 4 of these at £14.97 per pair

So far no errors and they look great.  If I can work out how I'll post a few photos.

...No luck with the photo's yet, not sure what i'm doing

Thanks, bleeding pricey bits of kit, aren't they! What did you need the 4 x festoon lights for? 2 x for the rear plate &  .....

Yeah they're not cheap but I bought cheap ones before and they didn't work.  2 festoon for the number plate, one for the central dome light in the front, and one for the boot.  You could use another 2 for the vanity mirrors if you really wanted, I don't use them anyway.  The boot one doesn't fit as the holder is too big, but a folded up piece of kitchen foil does the trick :) I do have 2 spare led 501's if you're interested: bought them for the sidelights but apparently that would be illegal...
