Today's problem is....

Front engine mount needs replacing and there is some sort of metal on metal rubbing/screeching on the offside front wheel.

Going to buy a solid front mount, seems to be a good choice according to reviews I've read and it is about the same price as a rubber one.

The metal screeching noise I've got no idea what it is. I took the wheel off the other day and I found nothing, wouldn't do it. Going to take the caliper and disc off sometime this week and inspect further. It's done it since I tightened up the loose hub nut  :undecided: It's not a wheel bearing sound though, so not sure what I'll be looking at. Sounds just like when the ABS sensor was rubbing against the ABS ring....So I'll look at the ABS ring area.

Another problem to deal with before the trip to Spain (25th july) is a leaking sump gasket and worn alternator belt.

Alternator belt is cheap enough and very easy to change. Make sure you get the right one, the early ones are a slightly differant length.

Solid front mounts are good but you will get slightly more vibration but only really noticeable on starting.

Check the stone guard behind the disc for your screeching sound.

Yeah getting the right belt is pretty hard, the ECP website makes it pretty hard.
I'm aware of the vibration but the benefits outweigh the cons, so getting one. Been in contact with the clubgti seller and untill friday he won't have any more.

The guard on the wheel is off, I removed it a few weeks ago when I removed the ABS sensor, and the one on the other side is clear of the disc. It's only when turning left, sometimes when turning VERY slightly, and other when turning on near full lock. Need to remove the components and inspect.
