Being having the dreaded cut out while driving last few months also, being driving me mad, have tried a few things including, oil n filter change, air filter, coil pack, and cleaned tb.
Was good for a few days but happened again, so last week fitted a coolant temp sensor and cleaned the throttle body again with carb cleaner and replaced gasket, and also took the plunge and removed the maf and cleaned it up, very carefully, and touch wood it appears to be better..

MAF

Used cotton buds to carefully remove the soot and carbon build up of the delicate sensor..

(touch wood) success with cutting out issue, took the plunge again and me and my pa changed the crank sensor,

it all looked fine until i went to remove it, after finally getting to it, lol,

after getting it out and had it in my hand, the plastic had cracked and also the wires were so brittle, i cud see the outer protection was cracked and when i peeled it a bit it was all like this inside..

replaced it with a gsf part 48+vat and runs well now, (touching wood again!)

also have being cleaning and messing bout, car has replacement drivers door, (no rust) and also tailgate, (no rust) few stone chips around, but looking to get them sorted,

also have a bonnet bra now on, and plan to put full frontal bra on soon, think itll look pretty good when lowered with vr spolier and wind diffusers and front bras on, very eu hopefully..  and dont recall seeing one like this before,,, which is what we all aim for, individuality. :)

last thing recently is pressed plates and wolfsburg surrounds, think they look spot on,  pics to follow :)

Thanks to Len405 for the idea to use the trumpet out of airbox to make an inlet in mesh..

I first drilled around the inside edge of the panels with drill then went round with snips followed by lots of fileing to get at smooth as i can,
sadly i didnt think to take pics of this, wish is unusal as i normally remember lol

then started to fit mesh around the panel

finshed meshing out and also pot rivited into place, with only 2 visible from outside.

then on drivers side cut out a hole for the trumpet making sure to not cut too much out,  then split the trumpet and inserted into mesh, so the mesh was up behind it and not messy looking

drivers finished

drivers side on car and fully installed, small hole made for temp sensor so still where it should be.. :)

passengers just stay as it waas cos nothing to be attached to it..
