Engine mounts
« on: 09 November 2004, 22:42 »
Right peolple,

I have had enough of my zorst rubbers breaking due to worn mounts, front mount is a pi$$ of pi$$ to do but the rear??

Picked the front and rear up today from GSF and going to do em tomorrow.

Just need to know what the rear one is like to do and the best way of changing the bugger

rear one is a fiddly job. lot easier if you have access to a set of proper ramps

id quite happily leave the car into a garage and let them change it - should only cost ?25 tops to fit

did u go for the later 16v hydro mount on the rear?

the combo you want is

16v solid rubber front
solid rubber gearbox
16v rear hydo mount

I dont mind getting dirty, got me a set of car ramps that will get her up.

Monies a bit tight at the mo so will be doing it myself ;)

I went for the standard ones as monies tight and its an early 84 (k jet i think)

How much of a fiddly job is the rear?

Cheers

its quite a phsyical job as the bolts are fcuking tight an not the easiest to get to! get the car in the air in have a look at its postion its hard to get at! i thought it would be easier to take off the whole mounting braket then take the mount out of that but i turns out it wasnt! lol
