I have literally no time. Am too busy to be busy!
Am in Denmark from Tuesday 16 March, then off on another conference, then off for 3-4 days (my first holiday in 9 months), then back to hell at work (though I really love it). Time is money and it is more economical for me to pay someone than do it myself!
As my car is coming from Telford, it more convenient for me to have the work done for me rather me doing it all myself! Otherwise, I will only be able to take delivery mid April and that is not something I can bear! All this because of the delay from BW2 to BW8! Curses!
Thank you all.
That's fair enough, how much does it cost to have somone apply it and what do you do out of interest?
I'm looking forward to 'sealing' mine myself when I finally get; I see it as part of getting to know the new car if you know what I mean. roll on April....

I am being charged £200 in total. £175 for the outside and £25 for the inside. The work takes 5-6 hours.

or save your cash and invest in some decent products to protect your new car's shiney new paintwork

Thats what I did with my ED30 - spent the £150 it would have cost on expnsive polishes / waxes / cloths / mitts etc!
I was told the other day I shouldn't be waxing a brand new car though because the paint will have been sealed in the factory and I should be leaving it a couple of weeks?
I just wanted to get a couple of layers of wax on to protect it before I drove it.

If you don't have the time then contact a professional detailer and get them to apply 'proper' detailing products which will give your car much more protection and shine then some package. It might be a little more expensive but the quality of work and the products used will be far superior

As p3eps has said you should really wait a month or so before appying any sort of new products to allow the paint to fully harden and cure

Hi Rhyso:
Thanks for your response and advice.
My car was built during BW8 and will be Toughsealed end of this week which is BW11.
I spoke to Stuart about this and he has assured me that with modern paints the time lapse is less and he would never apply paint protection if he felt this would be detrimental.
They have done thousands of 'new' cars with no issues to date. He had already checked the build dates with me previously and when to apply the Toughseal.
Thank you for your advice and concern.
I am most grateful to all of you.

I don't go along with leaving your paint work for a month or two before coating it with wax or whatever. VW garages offer a sealant service to new cars.
I am probably a bit OT when it comes to looking after my cars paint work. I like to see a mirror effect from the paint work and so wax regular with Colite and every few month put a coat of Glaze on the car. Have done for years from day one of owning the car. Have never experienced any problems with the paint work.

On Order Golf GTI 5 Door Manual - Pearl Black - 18' Vision Alloys - Goodyear F1 Asymmetric Tyers - Sunroof - Xenon Lights - Touch Screen Cd Player With Dyneaudio amp and speakers - Folding Wing Mirrors - Dealer Fit - Steel VW kick plates - Front And Rear Mud Flaps - Sill boot protector - Boot liner - 3 year Service Plan - Carpet Matts With GTI Logo And Red Pipping.

It's utter horsefeathers.
There is no reason not to do it immediately. New paint is hard as soon as it's baked.

I've had new paint polished, sealed and even covered in the clear protective film within hours of it being applied and all has been well.

Again, personal choice, I'd not pay for Supaguard and the likes...
However, if you are busy, I would consider paying a professional detailer to do the works with some quality products.

I'm luck I have a mate who does mine...but a man with a DA or rotary polisher will have small inperfections out in minutes and the paintwork given 4 or 5 coats of something a bit special, which will give good protection for months.
I could do it all myself, but I'm too lazy, and besides two of us can do a better job, in a shorter time!

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.
