How did you make payment for your GTI?

My dealers contract  :grin: (not worth the paper its written on as they have broke it more than once) only lists two methods of payment telegraphic tansfer or bankers draft  :grin: So how did you guys pay for yours and when?


Debit card on collection?

Bank transfer before collection?

or other method?

Debit card.
First clear it with your bank that you will be withdrawing the stated sum for payment to the named business.
Otherwise, as you well know, they will block payment of very large sums. This is understandable and is for your own security.

£10k deposit and the rest bank loan, a cheap ass loan too thanks to my misses working with business banking :)


GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Yeah, debit  card. Let you bank know and you'll probably have to have the transaction validated but should be fine

Oh yeah, bank loan, but paid for the car with debit card. You dont need to tell your bank before hand, but what will happen is that when they (dealer) calls up to verify funds are there you will most likely need to talk to the bank who will ask some simple security questions.

Phoned the bank the day before I collected car and asked for a bankers draft made out to the stealers for the amount owing, no problems and nice and easy transaction.

Depends on your bank.

Doesn't matter how much you have stashed some banks will put a limit on debit card transactions.

Check first to avoid embarrassment.
