debit card,no need to ring bank because it went through first time.

I dont know who you bank with, but I work for the current #2 bank on the high street, and any transaction above £10,000 done on a debit card would immediately be blocked and flag a security alert on your account.

I personally bank with HSBC, I had to call them to advise of a large debit card transaction today, and once informed, then you have 30 minutes to get your card in the PDQ machine.

I know some banks take quite a long time to santion the transactions even when there are enough funds available. Lloyds TSB has been pretty good to me. Took them 15 minutes!
Nat West were much, much slower.

Quickly changing topic:

It's early days yet, I can certainly notice the difference between switching modes, It's almost like I can feel the car drop slightly when going into sport mode.  Hard to put into words.

I went for a 60 mile drive after 9pm tonight, along the coast road to Eastbourne.  Had a bit of fun with a mk4 for several miles going past Beachy Head, he kept getting too close behind so i wanged it over to manual gears, switched to sport on the ACC and I was gone.  He couldnt keep up.  That was with me "taking it easy" and not going over 1/4 throttle or above 3000rpm.  I cant wait until I hit 1200 miles and I can really drive it!

Best ask me about ACC in a few weeks time when I can appreciate it.

£1000 deposit in cash on order, then a cheque for the balance on delivery.

This is the best reply, though:

Must have made you feel a bit sick withdrawing all that money from your current account but much better minutes later when the car was all yours!

Paying in cash? OMG. They must have had a hell of a party afterwards! The Inland Revenue should be informed if they have not declared this.
Hope he got a hell of a discount!
