NEW tyres
« on: 03 March 2010, 21:43 »
Just want to say thanks for all the advice/arguments/debate that's on the site about the right choice of tyres. As a result, I have four new Eagle F1 Assymetrics and I'm £410 lighter. They certainly seem to be be far better than the worn Proxys and the now slick Potenzas on there already. Certainly deeper tread

Let you know how they perform on the way down to Devon on Saturday.

I have Goodyear F1s Assymetrics on my BM and they are brilliant. My BM is crap in the snow regardless of tyres

My wifes' GTI is wrapped in Conti SC3 (front) and will need changing in the summer. Does anyone know how Falken 452s compare?

Regards.

....Another vote for Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics. I'm about to buy my third pair. Vredestein asymmetrics have a good reputation too except they don't warm up very quickly.

Btw, I see you're from Bromsgrove. I went to Bromsgrove School (in the days before girls attended). Do they still wear straw boaters in the Summer?

It's weird red, they warm up slowly on the rolling road but they are grippy from the off on the winter days, great in the snow and certainly better than the goodyears through the winter in my experience.  I'm a convert, gone from ps2's to F1's to vreds and vreds are certainly my new favourite

....Vreds were my favourite when I raced bicycles but 18mm with 150psi is a different ball game!

I've been thinking of changing to Vreds but am very unsure about having the GY asymms on one axle and Vred asymms on the other. Tyre wall stiffness etc could action the ESP when not wanted. I'm doing a proper trackday with Hurdy at the Nurdleburgering in April (Nordschleife plus GP circuit) and don't want to be taking strange risks.

I had some random weird snatching moments when I had GY asymms and GY directionals mixed.
