Still here, am1w - haven't changed Golf order and probably won't - I have considered a colour change but carb grey is good for me - sticking with 3 door - sun roof keeps crossing my mind but I don't think I'll bother - if I was going to throw another few hundred quid at the order, it would probably be on ACC but I just don't think the kind of driving I do calls for it - mostly home to work suburban driving, 'around the houses' (local driving) and the odd bit of motorway - no 'pushing it', no country roads, nothing 'off piste' for the fun of it - I'd probably be in 'normal' all the time with ACC so what's the point?

Whens your order for James? As mine should be here within a month with (fingers crossed) a sunroof if you want a look.

Hi James:

Try and go for the 5 door GTi. Does not look quite as good as the 3 door, but it is much more practical and somehow looks more grown up. If buying a 3 door Golf, I would go for the Scirocco instead! Better value and svelte looks.

I had to decide between ACC and the sunroof to keep costs down (I am quite mean, really!). Would have liked both, but as I live in London with truly horrible roads, I decided on ACC. I would probably use it in 'comfort' mode most of the time. For you, a sunroof would be a great option.

Carbon Grey is a great colour, but a Reflex Silver GTi really looks the business. I saw one yesterday and it really looked quite fabulous. I went for flat paint as I could not bring myself to pay extra for metallic paint (I am really, really mean!!). Anyway, and thankfully, I love the Tornado Red colour.

I did not specify DSG as I am terribly mean and do prefer manual gearboxes anyway.

I also refuse to pay VW prices for the RNS 510 Sat Nav, as I can get it for £600 fitted from OEM Retrofits.

Please don't option the boot sill protector, either in clear or silver. It looks horrid. But that's my opinion.

Do try and order the steel door sills as they do 'finish' the car off quite nicely. Look at my choice for 'Dealer Supplied Accesories' under the Accessory Brochure thread.

Best of luck in processing your order.

By the way, what colour is the XC90?

Hi, am1w

I know what you mean about the 5 dr looking more grown up but I just think
I fancy the 3 door - mid life crisis (43 yrs old)? I still think ACC is a waste of money for me considering the kind of driving I do - sunroof is still a possibility but as it would put my BW back some weeks (I guess), I'll probably leave it. I have thought about changing to white but I think the carb grey will turn out to be more me - RNS 510 is too expensive considering the alternatives like Tom Tom - I think I can even get an app on my iPhone. I did originally spec manual but changed to DSG - I don't know if I was right to make that change but I did and I'm staying with that decision. Sticking with transparent boot sill protector, not for the look but for it's protective function - I'll change to steel door sill protectors unless it'll mean my BW being changed for the worse.
I didn't think about the order (except for the manual to DSG change) much after I signed the paperwork in December - not sure why I'm prevaricating so much now.

You're not prevaricating - not unless you're lying to us.

You're procrastinating.  Look 'em up.

[/pedant]

You'll regret not getting the 5-door if you're intending to transport the sprogs with any degree of regularity, I promise you.

Rolfe.
