i recommend you do a lot of reading and take your time decideing which route you want to take, phil and my self both were planning to keep our cars standard but now its a different story, hes about to go stage 2 and im about to go stage2+ both with different tuners but there are merits to each. personally i would recommend Revo with a select plus switch. Do a bit of research before committing

In your oppinion of course.

Or buy a 2nd hand Bluefin handset from another forum user. (Spent £185) , even less the R-Tech and have even more smiles

But thats my own luck..

not just my opinion Phil, and as you said you were lucky enough to get one second hand! + cant see why theres even more smiles as to my knowledge there havent been any issues with R-Techs maps whilst i remember a time where every other thread was a slating at Bluefin and theyre claims of gains etc!

Hi brand new here im also thinking of a re-map,am i right saying r tek no rolling road but if i go AMD in thurrock they do an before and after RR
or can i get a RR with R tek for after results at a local RR?Or is there no need?

Ummm not to sure what you mean as that didnt make much sense. R-Tech DO have a RR if thats what your asking? I said thats their old as they now new have a new one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR7p12yuB4Y)

Phil also makes a point that Bluefin allows you to keep your stock map. I personally had no need to keep the stock map and am not bothered about flash count as my car is no longer in warranty (imo I wouldn't get a remap if you still have a warranty)

I've not dealt with Bluefin or Revo or anyone else in terms of a remap so can only comment on the good service I have got from R-Tech.

cheeeky fookers!

great gains as shown on Alan's graph MUCH better value for money than other maps! :afro:

anyway...

Each map from these companys has its own Benefits, Do your research fella. Revo has benefits over Bluefin, Bluefin has its merits over Revo, Apr and others.

Ive gone with Bluefin as it keeps your stock map loaded to the Handset, and doesnt add to the cars ecu Flash counter, whereas others do add to the counter, which isnt good for making a claim under warranty.

Unsure if R-tech does the same as Bluefin tbh.

Was it £185 all in Phil or did you have to pay Bluefin for the actual map again?
All in

The only issues have Been where Superchips have issued the wrong Map Ie Dsg or manual version, but when you eventually get the correct one. Its superb imo.

How many maps have you run on phil mcavity? Would be interesting to see a comparision?

Personally I will be going to R-tech when mines get's mapped. Used them for my mk4, and was pleased with the results and service.

R-tech are like the 'bread and butter' remappers, no fancy packaging or handsets, no £500 price tag either, just a good honest service at a very reasonable price, but still with a good amount of customer care to back it up.  :smug:

If your unsure who to use, there are many trial remap options out there from tuners, I would say try them all then come to us and try our remap for free and make your own minds up, If you like our way of mapping then pay then keep the map, if not you can go to the map you have found to be better.

So Nick..... are they eccusing  you of copying their maps in which case performance would be near identical to whoevers map youve altered?

Trial maps are not the full map, only around 70% of output, and not the full fat version.

a lot of people offer a good map so thats cool if you want a quick fix. its a valuable option to be able to turn the map off or switch settings. i feel that if RTech could offer this then i may have gone that way but they dont.

and yes phil the revo trial is meant to be a "week" version of the full thing but i cant comment as i didnt try the trial just spoke to a few people some of whom you know, and read about it. no point spending 200 quid then thinking i wish i spent a bit more and got what i wanted

I suppose you could compare it to designer clothes 'snobbery' Most of us are guilty of it somewhere down the line, we like to think if we spent a bit more money we will be safe with a tried and tested known product. The bottom line is there are other people/companies who can do some things better than others.

I'm not saying 'R-tech are better than revo' etc etc as I haven't exerianced enough of either company to be able to comment. What I think I can comment on is value for money though, and the numbers of satisifed customers prove that R-tech can offer a very similar product, with similar results for half the price.

ETTO and all that what not but I would be happy dropping my car off at R-tech (after a quick cuppa tea) and picking it up in a few hours time knowing it's not been poorly man handled by a bunch of chimps, and with a satisfying improvement in performance to return home with.

Now after all of this, wheres my 50% off voucher you promised me Nick
