Thanks very much for that link.

The price they quoted was just under 24. They price the dealer was offering was 26.

So who exactly are these people? Are they import vehicles?

no...all they do is put you in touch with the best price UK garage supplying UK vehicles only.  They don't take any money off you either - you deal direct with the garage.  They must earn commission from the dealers.

My Dad bought his XC90 through them and I'm about to use them to replace my family car.  Judging by the reviews of them online, most people share the feelings of my father...that they are well worth using.  The only downside is that you can't part ex.

compare the second hand price of a 1 year old sub 10k mile car to a new car off that drivethedeal site.  There is very little difference if any.  It just proves how much the dealers rape you.

I used DriveThe Deal as a bargaining tool.  Went in, said if you can price match the business is yours and that I would prefer to deal with a local dealer.  The dealer gave me the old sob stories, I walked and surprise, surprise got a phone call a few days later that they were prepared to price match.  The benfit being that I got the car from a local dealer otherwise sometimes you need to travel 100's of miles to collect the car.

Delivery in the UK...  Agreed but I'd rather deal with someone face to face (especially when picking up) but if it's a matter of £1,000 then you'd be silly not to go with a dealer further out.  But as a bargianing tool, I'd suggest you use it as a basis for negotiations.

that's exactly what I'm doing.  It cuts out all the bs if you say "this is the price I can get, what can you do?"

I used dealdrivers.co.uk. Back in July had some superb prices. £2300 off or something similar. I took that offer and my local dealer agreed without moan. But they made about £2000 on my part-exchange so didn't lose too much.

Now it seems the dealdrivers' dealer no longer gets GTI allocation but you could bluff :)
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...
