When I used DriveTheDeal the dealer did do a search and checked the price that was offered

The price they quoted was just under 24. They price the dealer was offering was 26.

So who exactly are these people? Are they import vehicles?

Just had a look over on www.drivethedeal.com they appear to have some good prices for the GTI. For my spec they are quoting about  11% off, which is good.

Have you gave them a phone to see if they have dealers with allocation?

Phone around near the end of each month and find a few dealers with showroom cars, I paid exactly 25k for mine 3 weeks ago from a VW dealer, I think it works out about 15% discount compared to today's prices, obviously the old VAT rate helped.

the price comes from the dealers so I guess so.  I'll find out for sure tomorrow.

Brand new, about 10 miles in the clock, if your lucky enough to phone around and a dealer has a stock car and it's the end of their quarter, normally you get a good deal! I think the deals will become more common with the arrival of the R and cancelled GTI orders.. A R to the same spec as my GTI would cost over 9k more than I paid.. Although I would love a R, who wouldn't, I couldn't justify 9k for 4WD, 60hp and Xenons...

Just wanted to update all.

I have now applied for a quote from Drive the deal and they are going to get back to me with estimated delivery times etc.... I'm sure it's going to be a long old wait either way.

I wondered what success you guys may have had with your local vw dealer matching or getting close to the offer made my drive the deal or any other broker?
