And good discount of 8% and in some cases 10%!

Lol
If you seriously think the same company that puts RHD GTI on hold due to lack of profit is going to offer S3 in UK at a reasonable price AND offer 8-10% discount you must be dreaming...

I know someone who has received 8% on his S3 ordered 3 weeks ago. That's another topic

I got offered 9% discount the other day without even trying.  They were trying to GIVE them away because theres a new model soon!

Yep, my neighbour turned up on Saturday in a new S3 Sportback which he got 10% off. In November I was offered an S4 with 8% off plus the scrappage discount.

Precisely! You'll get nice discount on outgoing model but not on a new one I was referring to.

You do realise the NEW S3 wont be out for quite some time.

Yes, but not the new model (if it is really coming out soon...).

Going back to your options. I feel your pain. 3 months was long enough for me before September. If I were told I'd have to wait 7 months I'd not be buying. You're right to be looking somewhere else.

However. You can be looking at an S3 which is an old (er) technology. For me it was no go as I like toys (ACC, park assist, cornering lights, voice integration for RNS-510). You can get cheaper GTI in SEAT Leon but then it's a brand image problem...
Difficult one...
Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...

My heart says VW, so i'll probably just be a mug and sit out the wait. But i'm not sure i'll see any benefit to handing over my deposit now rather than March/April.

hahaha. I took the Mrs over to the R they had in the showroom and said they have this one now to drive away next week.

Got her to sit in it and approve!

Then one by one i slid my hand away from each digit to reveal the price. Her response wasn't positive, lets say!

Having gone from and R32 i'd love to have the R, but sadly can't justify it.

Protection against possible price rise March/April/May/June/July maybe... :) It depends how much they'd want.
