Well, been to visit my dealer and have finally decided on the spec. It's going to be a GTi with a few added extras. Was debating the GTD.
Anyway, have been dealing with this chap from November and at that point estimated delivery time was about 4 months. At the weekend, the delivery wouldn't be until Aug! He said the GTi wouldn't be processed until April, so expected delivery date would be Aug!! He said it was due to the restricted right hand drive GTI's/GTD's in production, because of the lack of profit in the UK. (weak pound)
So i guess it really doesn't matter if i order now or in April. It'll still get processed at that time.
Should i wait and sit on my money and make VW sweat a bit, maybe encouraging them to either ramp production up (people not ordering due to poor delivery times) or reduce the price?
Wait for one to turn up at a dealership, either 2nd hand or one that a customer cancelled. Dealer told me that if i was to cancel my order due to delays, they would still process the order and sell in house.
Or should i just get my deposit down and get in line like all the other frustrated people here?
Obviously VW wont change their ways on just myself not putting my order in, but it would appear that there's a lot of people cancelling and going to different manufactures....... and that's just on this forum!
Cheers guys and good luck to all that are sticking out the wait!
