How much do you love your mk6 GTI??

To me, at this moment in time and for my current circumstances it's a perfect car.

What do you think??

As i don't have mine yet i don't know. At this present time i don't like mine. Its took up every spare minute of my free time for the past months, Its made me have to deal with people with no common sense. Its wasted many days of my holiday entitlement to try and sort it out.
It better be bloody worth it!

Perhaps I should have mentioned the rules.

Non mk 6 owners are BANNED, totally banned and well, just banned/forbidden/verboten and will end up in court or (worse) if they continue to post false votes.

 

I know you guys/gals are totally frustrated with your massive delays, if it helps I waited 4 months or so and was one of the first to order simply out of reputation and experience of previous GTIs and a quick test drive on the Mk6 GTI release day.

Anyway, all frustated mk6 orderers are BANNED, forever, permanently and until their GTI arrives and they've fallen in love with it.

I waited just 6 weeks last May from order to delivery and still give it 10 out of 10.

In fact, since it's been sat in the snow for three weeks and I only drove it yesterday for the first time in ages I'll give it 11 out of 10!!!!!

So far one of my favourite cars I ever owned. Almost a perfect car for me to drive to work
For
1. Adequate performance for everyday use. Good midrange. Turbo lag acceptable. Plenty of tuning potential.
2. Reasonable economy if gentle with the throttle. Manufacturer combined figure a bit optimisstic. Still not too bad.
3. Good driving position and pedal feel. Brake easy to modulate. Manual box very slick. Good ergonomics. Make driving in town a doddle
4. I find this car quite attractive without causing envy.
5. Wind noise is very well suppressed. Very stable with crosswind. Ride on poor roads with ACC COMFORT is exceptional for a fast hatch.
6. Safest car in its class Top score in EuroNcap
Not so good
1. Ludicrous list and option pricing However when compare with Golf GTD, v. good value
2. Boring engine tone. Sounds no difference 2000rpm or 6000rpm.
3. The interior still have too much hard plastic 
4. Rivals got more BHP but they all use more fuel and higher road tax
5. Need a bit more rear leg room and bigger boot
6. Carbon grey a nightmare to keep looking clean

I gave my Golf 9/10. The long 'Not So Good' list only worth -1
It 'might' not be the best hot hatch to drive but I think it is still best hot hatch to own-better than even the Golf R!

Love

• Subtle but purposeful red flashes and styling touches that make it nothing else but a GTI, the R and R32 before it has no styling identity other than the R badge
• Perfect size - small enough for the city, parking and for my wife to drive; yet practical and spacious enough in the rear for 3 passengers
• Boot size is fine for my golf clubs (tho a slight negative is that I have to take my driver out of its bag, but it'll still fit the boot)
• Performance is fine and it holds its own, tho not mind-blowing
• Cheap road tax and decent economy
• A fantastic one-car-fits-all-roles

Love less

• Jack of all trades and master of none? (other than perhaps quality and refinement)
• £26k is a lot of money (tho against the R and the GTD its a relative bargain!
