I drove mine tonight from Dorset to Plymouth and back, some good driving roads. I haven't driven it for a few week as I've been driving my van but, I really had forgotten how good this car is. Mine is Revo remapped and the power is just endlessly on tap, I really can't think that anything faster would have been any more fun.

My only criticism is that one of the fog light bulb access covers keeps falling out.

Best car i've ever owned. I gave it 9/10 because it should come as standard with the performance that the remap delivers.

Gave mine a 7

It is a very complete car and very satisfying to own. Agree with all the owners on here.

But,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I guess I wanted more power, a bit more hardcore.

The fwd traction is poor in the wet. The trick RDS? traction thingy does not really work. I came from a MKV 4 motion which was brilliant in all weathers but rather dull.

Suppose what I really wanted / needed was the R version.

It is a company car so will have to keep it 3 years, then decide whether to change it for what maybe a Mark7 R ? or buy it off the lease company and Revo it.

Still, will be an enjoyable 3 years to decide.
Mk6 GTi - returned to leasing company after 3 great years and replaced with :

Mk5 GTi - Edition 30 - Revo 1 and some tweaks - 310 bhp. Its a better car than the Mk6  - Now sold and replaced with :

Mk6 R - Rising Blue 5 Door. Won't be standard 270bhp for long

Family Car : Mercedes ML420 with 360 bhp
Looking at Porsche Macan as replacement

A lot.

It always puts a smile on my face.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Poll closed now, thought I'd share the results.

Seems most of you love your GTI.

Some of you hate them or is it just the waiting....
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

I missed the poll

Before this car I drove a 2nd Generation MINI Cooper 1.6 (that may be influential) So far, 12k miles into my Mk6  GTI I can say the following:

LOVE:

-the styling - I think VW really got it just right on the new car

-the branding - the R32/R models are too similar to the Scirrocco R and Seat Cupra R (it's the same           badges) - I really love all the red detailing and GTI styling in the car (partly because mine is red)

-The exhaust sounds pretty good - quiet enough on the road - loud enough for fun

-the standard kit I found pretty good (try speccing a Cooper S to GTI levels and you'll be near enough the same price and that's before going to a John Cooper Works)

-The performance. Sure other manufacturers quote more bhp but I'm yet to find a stock VXR/ST/Type R or Cupra that can pull away from my GTI. Partly the reason is that VW are conservative. The other part is that the GTI engine pulls very well over a broad range. The VXR turbo is either on or off and the Type R needs its revs. The GTI is consistent.

- The space - this is mostly because I came from a Mini.

- the consumption is pretty good. I regularly get up to 45 mpg on my commute. Sometimes I get over 50. Even when driving quickly I get around 30-34mpg which is pretty good for 2.0 turbo

WHAT I DONT LOVE:

- red paint which shows swirl patterns

- carpet materials which seem to get dirtier easier and stay dirtier than my MINI mats

- the fact that my GTI is so good because it has stopped me liking any other car

Carpet could be dirtier due to exceptionally bad weather lately?

Agree on second point, I've stopped buying car mags completely!  (saving a small fortune each mth!)

Re: How much do you love your mk6 GTI??
How much,
Mines due early March.
Lets see,
I have now got 3 gallon of wax oil, The compressor presure regulator is fixed for the waxoil process.
The rubber lifting pads are ordered.
The wax/polish/sealer for the paint and wheels is soon to be ordered.
The paint for the hubs is ordered.
The rubber front mats are ordered.
The extra garage space will be sorted this weekend and maybe next ready for it coming.(thats a big task!).
It will not be used daily till the bad weather is over in a month or so and will sit in said heated/dehumidified garage next to the mk1.
Im looking at the seat lifter badges, and door sill trims.
I may treat it too LED rear lights and 18" wheels before its let out.
GAP insurance is too sort out.
and im sure there is more
