Proof! GTD is slower than a GTI!

a GTD is faster than a GTI. 

Even next day this still makes me laugh.

Is there any other GTI forums I can link this thread to ? It would be rude not to let others have the same belly laugh.

There's no arguement though, the GTD is definately 'slower' than a GTI Mk6. According to the list the GTD is quicker than the Mk5 GTI..which is quicker than a mk5 Ed30..strange...

Yeah, didn't mention the Mk5 times - thought it would be too obvious bait for dimwit Kev!  

The R32, Ed30 and Mk5 times were five years ago though - maybe they've changed the track or it was raining or whatever.  I had a Mk5 and I'm certain it would be faster than a GTD on a track.  FWD cars on track are very dull though - can't really see the point myself.

I don't think anybody who has a GTD (including myself) truly believes that in a straight line, driven by the same driver that the GTD will beat the GTI, but at the same time there wouldn't be that big a gap as some GTI owners would have you believe, there really is f**k all in it.

Some of the comments on here from GTI owners are equally as daft as those who say the GTD is quicker.  I've read stuff like 'Cos they couldn't afford the GTI' when there's only 500 quid in it and other such stupidities.

They're both excellent cars in their own right.  The GTD suited me more because the company car tax and fuel costs were lower so I could spend more on important stuff like family holidays etc - much more important to me than how much faster my car goes than its diesel equivalent.

But in windy roads you would beat a GTI ? pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease say yes.

Try it, you might be surprised. I mean BTCC cars are FWD and they look a ball to drive.

Oh and talking of Touring car I think you'll find Yvan Muller was WTCC Champ in 2008 and Gabriele Tarquini in 2009 both behind the wheel of a VAG Diesel engined car.
