Not surprising really as the GTD is a) 40bhp down on the GTI and b) a diesel.

The GTD driver was turning in way too early on the circuit.

Why do we need proof whats the matter with people,  are all you Gti owners getting worried that your golfs are not upto the job any more and a lowly diesel is starting to catch up

very big disadvantage me thinks,  them mr's didn't know how to drive,  how can you compare 1/4 mile times with 2 totally different drive trains the diesel will be heavier also.

Give the diesel a re-map just to bring it into line and I still think the GTI would have the advantage?

Yes the GTD is a very nice car and I'd own one in an instance but for drivability id take the GTI every time.

And that guy was saying I wish I could hear that gti over this bloody oil box

 I own a diesel

[Yawn]

The right gear and in a straight line a remapped GTD will keep up, but not round the twisty bits.

You can't deny physics... or the extra kilos between the front axle.
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

Never any point talking about the "what if's" Standard vs Standard a GTI leaves a GTD, If ur talking about a remapped GTD over a remapped GTI then im sure the distance between them will be further then standard

The clue is in the 'D'.
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Neither of them are great on the track - the GTD driver is especially bad though!

I posted this last night after quite a few beers, now in the cold light of day i realise what poor choice of title it was for what i thought was quite a good comparison, and for that i appologise. Now if you'll excuse me i'm going to hang myself! :embarassed:

Don't apologise as it gave me some more footage to keep me occupied until my GTI arrives  Reckon yer man in the GTD was at the limit whereas the other guy wasn't...
