I tested the multiple numbers under the one contact on the Fiscon.
When it downloads the phonebook to the Fiscon it automatically downloads all the numbers under the one contact so you have them available to you on the touch screen.

So if I have 'Dave' with his mobile, work and home numbers under the 1 contact, I can pick which one of his numbers I want to dial on the screen?
Most of my contacts have 2 numbers under the same entry.

Yes. You will have
Dave
Dave
in your contacts list.

You would just have to press the box at the end of their name to give you the info about which number it is.

thats £150 fitting which seems steep..

...Especially if you know someone with VAG-Comm - IIRC theres instructions somewhere on how to enable the Fiscon with Vag-comm, anyone know if this will be the same?
I reckon you local friendly VAG specialist would enable it for a few quid (or free in my case) if you can fit it yourself.

I just asked my dealer to enable telephone 77 on the CAN gateway while they were doing the PDI. That way I could fit the Fiscon myself as soon I got the car. Its no bother to them as they are in at the software anyway.

Only slight downside is that if you use the Fiscon display in the MFD to make calls, then you'll presented with two Daves as contacts and won't know which is the mobile number and which is the work number, for example. For me, the major drawback is that Fiscon doesn't display the recent calls list from my iPhone (calls made during the day when not connected to Fiscon).

So, what we're saying here is that even with FISCON, MoBridge or PARROT let alone VW's own telephone preparation, there is nothing that properly synchronises an Apple iPhone or non-rSAP phone with VW's RNS510 SatNAv/ Telephone module, right? If this is correct, then VW needs to get its act together. Smart phones like the APple iPhone are now into their 4th year. I call that "State of the Ark" innovation. What is going on!

Its not really a hardship if you use the MFD to navigate to the phone book using the Fiscon as you will be presented with two Daves but it doesn't dial blind without showing you the number first. When you select OK on the steering wheel it then presents you with
12345....
DIAL
BACK
with dial already highlighted, you just need to click ok on the steering wheel again.

If its the wrong Dave just go down one and select back and it will present you with the other Dave
56789....
DIAL
BACK

I'm really pleased with the way it integrates with the Sony Ericsson I have. Missed calls, dialled, received all populate on to the fiscon as soon as it connects via bluetooth. It obviously downloads all the details from the phone. When I first installed the Fiscon It even told me on the MFD if I had a new SMS and allowed me to read it and browse through the others. I could also send from previously composed SMS.  However I tried looking through my SMS the other day on the MFD and it was old ones from way before Christmas so I don't know if they have to be deleted to make room for new ones!!

It can also have up to 5 mobiles paired with it. So if my Mrs takes the car out she doesn't need to mess about pairing her phone, it happens automatically with all her numbers showing on the 510's display.

Questions:

1. when you say properly synchronises, what features from the phone are you expecting to get on the RNS510? Do you mean things like recent/missed call lists, because fiscon and mobridge seem to do that.
2. From what I'm reading, the Mobridge has at least as good, if not better, functionality than the Fiscon. Have you got some other info or experience of the mobridge?

From what I read of the mobridge manual it states the same functionality as the VW equipment.

Phone compatibility matrix http://www.mobridge-ipod.co.uk/docs/mObridgeCompatibilityMatrix.pdf

Manual here http://www.mobridge-ipod.co.uk/_imgStoreVirt/resources/mObridge_BT_VW_Manual_V5.pdf

It states on page 5(pdf) or 6 of the manual numbers "The functionality provided by mObridge is identical to the factory telephone for the RNS-510 and RCD-510. You can refer to the respective user manual for your RNS-510 or RCD-510 for further information."

I was almost about to order the Fiscon, but I think the MoBridge looks better.
