Rear washer fault

Could anyone point me in the right direction or does anyone have any advice as to my problem. the rear wiper works but the washer jet does not. could it be the nossel is blocked, if so what is the best way to clean it or could the hose be disconnected??? how can i check if the hose is still connected??

any help would be gratefully received cheers

just been out to check. i can hear the pump trying to spray water thru the back jets but there is only a small amount dribbling out the jet. how do i get to the back of the unit to check the pipes are ok?

The interior trim for the boot is fixed by two screws inside the hand pull recesses. Once these are removed, take off the light access covers at each side (just pull out). Then you need to be fairly brave and pull off the main trim using the two bulb access points for purchase. The trim is held in place by about 8 metal clips and two long plastic ones, all these simply pop undone when you pull firmly. Once one clip has popped, follow the trimaround to pop the rest. When the trim is off you can see the full workings for the washer jet.  :cool:

Thanks Hurdy. Ill give it a go tomorrow when i can see what in doing. i cant see any water escaping so i dont think its a loose hose but ill take off the cover and give it a once over. Is this a common ploblem ? it was working fine untill  a few weeks ago.

I've known a few block to a dribble in the past. The best way to prevent it is to buy a washer top-up filter/mesh to catch any deposits that may lurk in your filling jug/watering can/bottle etc :smiley: They don't do one for a mkv, but the mkiv ones can be made to fit.

Could it not be that the water's frozen? That happened to me last week (rear screen onlly...)

thats what i originally thought but surely it uses the same water tank as the front washers? and their working fine.

If it is still only dribbling then try a hairdryer on it to make sure it isn't partially frozen at the tip. The fronts tend to get the benefit of the engine heat once warmed up, but the rear doesn't :smiley:

Also try fishing about with a pin in the nozzle in case its a piece of grit or something thats got lodged in it.
