When I find a lift down there.. no car is killing me!!

The beast is getting fuel and a spark but just not starting, Only codes on Vag-com are hall sensor that has been there for about 12 months (5k limit problem)

I cant take any more walking around in the cold!!! I hope this fixes it

Have you checked the cam timing reference 5k limit problem.

If your limited to 5000 revs then the ECU relay wont fix it!

Its a timing issue and probably that hall sender as well.

But it was working fine, just wouldnt rev past 5k,

does the belt slip a tooth?

It should not but if the tensioner was to come loose it could happen.

It might do.


No it wont slip a tooth! If it did the tensioner would be loose and that would be disatrous!
It maybe one tooth out or as seen recently 180 degrees out! But that would be because the numpty that did it fitted the belt wrong!

It might do.


No it wont slip a tooth! If it did the tensioner would be loose and that would be disatrous!
It maybe one tooth out or as seen recently 180 degrees out! But that would be because the numpty that did it fitted the belt wrong!

Just for info, I have seen cam belts jump a tooth.

hi guys, thanks for you input on this.

changed the ECU relay anyway but no dice, due to being hungover and it being very cold im going to look at the timing tmorrow,

would my best bet to do the following,

- remove cambelt cover and move engine to TDC

then start with the dizzy? i think I understand the instructions...
